Skinwall Tires

Remember these fellas? Well if you're under a certain age you probably don't, but once upon a time these were the S***.

Well they're back. In skinwall no less. Original logos still look fresh! The only choice for your vintage MTB or dirt tourer.

In addition, we've also got some new skinwall tires from IRD.

Crossfire 32c and Fire 650b x 2.1" in stock now. Fire 29er coming soon.

Oh yeah, we also got some Rivvie 650b Fatty Rumpkins with new super duper puncture proof casing. I would go out on a limb and say these are the toughest 650b touring tires around. Gettum while they're hot.

Stoked on the smoke/dart, where can I get some? Nothing on the Soma site?

They'll be up soon, but for now you can get them through our distributor via your local bike shop.

Do the new Rumpkins have brown walls?

Evan Baird said...

Kind of a reddish brown.

A) Weight on the new Rumpkins?

B) Width on the new Rumpkins? Are they wider than the originals? (I know the sidewall says ~41.5, but the old ones usually measured at 40...)

C)Width on the 650b FirePro versus the Quasi?

@Leslie I couldn't say what the weight is. Rivendell might know. They're the same specs as the original tires but with beefed up casing. The Fire 650Bs are 2.1", similar to the Neo Motos.

Are the Fatty Rumpkins wire or kevlar bead?

@Justus Robert Gunther These are steel bead. Panaracer says since the casing is so stiff on these tires they need a steel bead to hold it together.
