We sent a Fog Cutter all the way to Girona, Spain so Russ of The Path Less Pedaled could have a bike to play with different drivetrain ideas in his search for "peak mechanical" set ups.
Russ has a couple of gravel / ATB / country road bikes, but not a dedicated "fast" road bike. And he was finding a lot a smooth asphalt in his explorations of the area, so a road bike made some sense.
While he has been swapping parts a lot, we'd describe is his build as practical and basic except for the Paul Klamper brakes. He has the steel fork option (not the carbon) and is taking advantage of the mini-rack mounts on the this fork.
Russ liked that it had external cable routing for easy maintenance and fiddling and the steel fork doesn't limit stack adjustability like a carbon steerer fork would. He said it was hard to find a "basic" bike that had these practical features, but still able to take disc brakes and thru-axle wheels.
He sees it as a nicer option to the Surly Midnight Special.
