David's Double Cross Disc

Evan,

Heres a couple shots the day I finished her, and one on a single track near my house.

She’s built off your DC Disc 50 frame with your fork, running gear consist of full Sram Rival, w/ a Simano Ultegra cassette & chain for smoother transition thru the gears.

I used your Hellyer pedal, I like the style and weight and I didn’t want a clip in on this bike. The stopping power comes from TRP Spyre SLC 140/160. Although their recent recall I haven’t experienced any issues with them, and I like them better then any other brake thus far.

Cockpit is full Thomson Elite for stem & post and the bars are their MTB Carbon. Chris King head set & BB. Specialized Phenom Saddle & Rocca locking grips.

All this rolls effortlessly on Stan's ZTR Iron Cross wheels with Continental Speed Ride 700x42’s.

Coming off Salsa frames for years I must admit Im far more impressed with this set up then any other bike I’ve owned.

Kindest Regards.
Dave S.

2013 Frame News - Double Cross Disc

We have finally discontinued the Double Cross DC, which had sported  both disc brake and canti brake mounts and have moved on to a disc only Double Cross. We are calling the new color "Old Gold". Despite being gold, it isn't at all gaudy. We wanted it to look like gold that has faded after years in the sun. The canti-only "traditional" model is still quite popular and will still be made (no color change for that).
- Lightweight and resilient Tange Prestige double-butted heat-treated CrMo steel front triangle; butted and tapered CrMo rear stays
- Clearance for 700 x 38c tires with fenders (42c w/o fenders)
- Compatible with old school downtube shifters
- Optional matching straight blade fork available
- Sizes: 42 to 62 and 66cm

Available in most sizes late December 2012.

Meet Ralph Lauren's newest model: The Soma Double Cross DC

We just got word that our good friends at Citizen Chain Cyclery in San Francisco recently built up a Soma Double Cross DC for the Ralph Lauren store downtown for their window display highlighting luxury sportswear (yes..LUXURY). The guild lines mostly concerned color--luckily we coordinated... Thanks Citizen Chain, it looks gorgeous!! Can't wait to see it for myself! Check out Citizen Chain's flickr for more pictures...

Soma Double Cross DC Review

RL from mtnbikeriders.com / bikecommuters.com just finished his review of the Double Cross DC. He built our cross frame into a flat bar commuter/trail bike. The guy's 210 lbs and rides pretty hard, but the DCDC held its own even on trails that RL normally rides full-suspension on. Our favorite quote:

"The Soma can fly like a mofo!"

Seriously, it is one of most detailed reviews we've seen yet on a DCDC, so if you want a third party opinion on this frame, this is a good place to start. Read the review here.

Handsome DCDC Build

Gooner14's (Flickr user name) Double Cross DC, the first Double Cross DC build that actually has disc brakes that we've seen posted to anywhere. Thanks Gooner! Check out our Flickr pages for other builds. We will be posting Thayne's (our purchasing guy) custom painted rusty brown DCDC soon.

Matt at Bicycle Time's (Dirt Rag's urban spin-off) just picked up a 60cm DCDC for his personal commuter. Keep up to date on his build on his blog. Hopefully we'll see a review in the summer or fall.

New Double Cross....Vodka

From thedieline.com.

Double Cross is a brand new "luxury vodka" from Slovakia. We were not just impressed with the name, but the killer bottle design. They also have an interesting logo/coat of arms with double cross bars. We were playing with a similar logo for our new Double Cross frame graphics, but dropped the idea. They got their inspiration from an ancient Slovak coat of arms. We got our inspiration from "V for Vendetta".

Double Cross Vodka is due to hit bars in late summer... to coincide with the launch of our Double Cross DC(disc & canti) frame.

Just kidding about that "coincide" thing.

Product Updates and Belated Name Dropping

Here's an example of how off the back we can be at promoting ourselves.
Patrick O' Grady of Mad Dog Media (and VeloNews fame) bought a Double Cross for his wife back in Dec. 06. We were aware of that purchase, but never knew that he bought one for himself as well last June. So here we are name-dropping 8 month later. If you are interested in what he thinks of them, see the 9-09-07 and 6-15-07 entries on The Daily Dog.

In other Double Cross news, you people have been asking about the Double Cross Disc/Canti edition. We have delayed releasing this at least until May. We apologize to those who were looking to get this for their spring rides. We just have a lot of things taking up our time and y'know... trying to catch up on promoting ourselves 'n s__t. We have more bars coming out..... the El Toro STEEL pursuit bar is coming out end of the month. This will be the only steel bullhorn bar on the market we think. We have had multiple e-mails of people destroying their alloy bullhorns on a regular basis. We made these for them. First batch will be 26.0's like Nitto's are. If you prefer 25.4, give us a holler. We are also wrapping up development on straight bars in colors (how hard can that be?). Plus we are testing the B-Side 650b MTB frame and finishing specs on a new mixte frame. Yes, mixte!

2008 Frame News and Other Updates

[Orginally posted Oct 2, 2007 on the mother site]
• Our Kamisori and Ensho saddles hit the warehouse today. In October, just as we said! That's a first. These are slick looking colored saddles with a CrMo rail price instead of a Ti rail price that most colored race saddles have.

• We have a Flickr page: It is mainly for posting older frame pix and Soma owner pix, but we did post a a pic of the new 650b MTB concept bike over there.

• 2008 Soma Rush: We will be phasing out the Fiery Red color and introducing a Pearl White. If you think white is a little 'played out', you can still get it in black. But our new Japanese distributor, Tokyo San Esu, really wanted to see white Rushes. Downtube decals will be removable on the new stock.

• 2008 Double Cross DC (i.e. "disc/canti"): We will finally be releasing a Double Cross with disc mounts. Cantilever bosses will be removable. Some of you are probably saying, "It's about time." It will be in the matte Midnight Silver that's been popular on our Juice frames. For the time being, this model will be offered in only 50 to 58cm.

There will still be cantilever-only Double Crosses in 2008 --for those who don't see the need for discs-- in a full size range.

• There is a brand new road frame that we plan to release mid-2008. We will release more details after evaluating our prototypes.
