Check out the Soma Eurotrip Fenders look nice over Soma New Xpress 700c's in Terra Cotta... The rear wheel is a Soma Iggy Wheel w/ Sturmey Archer Wide Ratio 8 speed hub. Needless to say this setup is perfect for wet winter weather...

The Soma Electric Saddle in Dominatrix Black adds some edge. The cable routing is right hand to front brake; it's cleaner and what Karl at Bicycle Times requested. The handlebars are our Soma Sparrow Handlebars in the 560mm length with Cardiff Julian Leather Grips in Black. The shifter is a Sturmey-Archer 8 speed twist shifter. Brakes are Dia-compe 610 brakes. It's set up pretty upright, but they can easily go less upright by flipping the bar and moving it down one spacer.

New goods in the Soma Store!! Sturmey Archer, Iggy Wheels..

We just in a bunch of treats from Sturmey Archer! The S3X 3-Speed Fixed Hubs are finally here, 120mm(in the plethora of colors pictured above) and 130 mm (in black and silver). These all come with the Sturmey SLS3X barend shifter...

Also, we got the Soma Iggy 700c and 26" Wheels with 3, 5, 8 speed Sturmey Archer hubs... find them in the new stuff.

The Sturmey Archer Duomatic Kick Shift 2 speed hub with coaster brake

They're only been in the states for a couple of weeks, but they are making quite a splash. We've been seeing a lot of unconventional drivetrains recently. People are making high-end coaster brakes....does anyone else feel the wind shifting?

Sturmey Archer 3 speed Shifter...Pake's new blog

We just got in some of these Sturmey-Archer 3-speed bar-end shifters. They can be paired up with our IGGY wheelsets to give you more bike setup options and will make a great compliment to many 3-speed builds.




















In other blog-worthy news, Pake finally got a blog up, and its been used to announce some serious changes to their lineup for 2010. We'll let them do the talking about the new stuff, but lets say they made some great changes to their track frame and forks, and aren't afraid of having a few colors in their lineup!

Tasty Three-Speed

Snapped these while ordering a Philly Cheesesteak at the a Firehouse Grill in South SF. They used red bell peppers instead of green today and they were especially sweet today.

This is a co-worker's 3-speed project bike. The Pake track frame is built up with our IGgy (internal gearing) wheels which feature Sturmey-Archer hubs. The wheels features nice alloy rims with machined braking sidewalls. The front hub is our SoMax track hub. The cable is routed along the top tube with alloy clamp-on cable guides. (The second one is not in use. He opted to run a CX cable roller to direct the cable down to the hub.) It also has a Cardiff Cornwall saddle and Soma Oxford bars. Green brakes are Dia-Compe and green headset is IRD. Other components are just from the ol' parts box.

New Soma Wheelsets

Soma SoMax Track Wheelsets will soon come in pink, red, blue and amber gold. The SoMax wheelsets features our tough sealed cartridge bearing hubs (fixed-fixed) built to 31mm deep aluminum rims. We will also be producing a small run of three-speed wheels using Sturmey-Archer hubs.

IN-DEPTH COLOR COMMENTARY:(We know sometimes pictures don't tell the whole story). The red is a strong red that does match our riser and straight bars and Sugino RD Messenger cranks. The gold is an amber gold that is maybe 10% more "orangey" than Sugino RD Messengers, which in turn is 8% more "orangey" than the gold of our bars. We will eventually do the wheels in a regular gold that will be a truer match to our bars. The anodized blue and pink match our straight bars quite well. PLEASE note that anodized colors vary slightly from batch to batch, so these comments only valid to stock on hand.
